Bostanlyk district is located in the north-eastern part of Tashkent region, with the Republic of Kazakhstan in the north, the Kyrgyz Republic in the north-east and east, Kibray in the south- west, Papkent and Ahangaron regions of Tashkent region in the south, to the east it borders the Pop district of Namangan province.

Bostanlyk district covers an area of 4,940 km (the largest in the Tashkent region) and is one of the highest mountainous areas in Uzbekistan.

There are mountain ranges in the region: eastern Tien Shan, Karjantau ridge, Pskem ridge and Chatkal ridge.

The administrative center of the district is Gazalkent, with a population of more than 2,500, and is the only town with district status.

45.1% of the population of Bostanlyk district are Uzbeks, Kazakhs - 42,300 (26.5%), Tajiks - 27,100 (17.0%), Russians - 12,000 (7.5%).

There are also diasporas of Ukrainians, Tatars, Koreans and other nationalities, who make up about 4% of the population.

The economy and industry of Bostanligq district is one of the most developed regions in Tashkent region, second only to Qibray district.

There are laws of gold, brown coal, copper, marble, granite, and slate in the district.

The development of these deposits is mainly open pit. There are marble and cotton processing enterprises.

Today, the district has enterprises producing bricks, concrete slabs, beverages, confectionery, dairy products and food products.

The largest recreation areas in the Republic of Uzbekistan are located in Bostanlyk district.

In particular, there are many summer and winter camps, ski resorts, sports centers, hotels and beaches on the shores of the Charvak Reservoir.

Charvak Reservoir and the largest tourist centers on the banks of the rivers Chirchik, Burchmulla, Gazalkent, Iskandar, Sidjak, Charvak.
