Bekabad

Bekabad

The city emerged as a village in 1899 during the construction of the Khilkov railway station, which was named in honor of M.I. Khilkova - one of the leaders in the construction of the railway.

Subsequently, the village was swallowed by the nearby village of Bekova.

The city is located 115 km south of Tashkent on the banks of the Syr Darya River, at the place of its exit from the Ferghana Valley to the Hungry Steppe, at the Begovatsky rapids.

The Havast-Kokand railway line passes through Bekabad. Numerous canals, roads and railways divide the city into separate microdistricts.

Directly near Bekabad, there is a border with the Sogd region of Tajikistan, the administrative center of which is Khujand, located 33 km east of Bekabad.
